The software development and IT consulting company tarent was founded in Bonn in 1996. Within the course of our company history, we have grown into a stable, medium-sized company with a team of more than 50 employees. In addition to our main offices in Bonn, we have an additional site in Berlin. The name "tarent" comes from the city of Taranto in southern Italy and the important mathematician and philosopher, Archytas of Tarentum, who lived during the fourth century B.C.

The mathematician and philosopher Archytas of Tarentum (428-350 B.C.) is considered to be the founder of mathematic mechanics and a leading head of the Pythagoreans. The city of Taranto in southern Italy was the center of the Pythagoreans. Archytas of Tarentum is said to have invented the screw and the block and tackle. He was an innovative thinker and practice-oriented, fundamental researcher. In his eyes, mathematics was the foundation of all knowledge and for the inner harmony of all things.
With his analytical thinking, Archytas made completely new discoveries. In the process, his considerations were always combined with concrete, practical applications. With our IT solutions, we also orient ourselves on the needs of people who work with applied information technology every day.
