LEPIDAT

The federal office for environment and conservation (BfN) runs the database LEPIDAT to analyse the habitat and the danger threat of butterflies.

With the constant damage of the environment, more and more butterfly species are urgently threatened in Germany. To face this danger threat a profound knowledge about the species and their bounding to specific plants and habitats is important. The tarent GmbH could support the BfN in this important matter in completing the implementation of this complex application as well as in putting it into service successfully.

The BfN plans to make LEPIDAT accessable via internet, soon. The butterfly database LEPIDAT is a pilot project for a planned general animal database FAUNADAT.

Further information about the protection of butterflies and about LEPIDAT can be found under FloraWeb.
