On the first weekend of March, the qualification match for the RoboCup German Open in April in Hannover, where IndieLiberty started again, took place at Nürburgring. After a very good start, the team could assert itself against their competitors, in spite of technical difficulties, and came in first in the competiotion in the category RoboRescue Secondary.
On the technical hand the team made great progress. They were the only ones out of 18 teams that managed to develop a working system for a ramp and the following area without a guideline (red zone). Due to that, the team gained the clear leadership in the first run. Unfortuantely, the lead was decreased in the second, deciding run, because the ramp sensor broke down. Therefore, they needed to stop this run, what caused great losses in the valuation. However, the remarkeable lead from the first run saved the team, so that they won the competition with the tiny lead of two points.
On this video, that was created on the competition, the problem on the ramp can be seen. The robot runs at first without the ramp program. After intervening, it recognizes the ramp and makes it to go to the red zone program.
The team is excited about their success and hopes to stand out against their competitors and to qualify for the RoboCup world championship in Suzhou, China.
Congratulations to the team and good luck in Hannover!
